We are the Legal Eagles of the Lake, a mobile notary service for Trust/Estate, Loan Signing, and General Notary Work online or in person! Together we are an experienced collaboration between the Lady of the Lake (Est. in 2012 by Christy Albin) and Eagle Mobile Notary (Est. in 2021 by Henry "Butch" Grambusch).

Best practices &
Oregon state requirements
Before the notary arrives:
​

Make sure each signer has their government-issued ID with photo. The signature and type of identifying information with expiration date from each signer will be recorded into the notary's journal.

Oregon does not recognize Matricular Consular ID.

We will need some chairs for the notary and each signer and adequate table space to be able to review and sign the documents and complete the required notary journal entries.

If you have your documents, please review them completely prior to the notary's arrival.

Required Legal Statement: "We are not attorneys licensed to practice law. We are not allowed to draft legal records, give advice on legal matters, including immigration, or charge a fee for those activities." ORS 194.350(4)(b)(A).

What you can expect from your notary:

You may use your own blue ink pen or we will always have an extra blue ink pen available.

The notaries will speak with each signer to ascertain they are lucid and have clarity of mind, and that they understand the documents, and that they are signing of their own free will without duress.

Punctual arrival. The notary will call if delayed unexpectedly preventing punctual arrival.

Kind, patient, cheery demeanor, and respectful of your privacy and non-public information.

We are not attorneys and we are not allowed to give any advice, including the selection of which notarial certificate you might need.

For General Notary documents, all signers must be proficient enough in the language of the documents to understand the purpose, meaning, and implications of signing the documents.
For real estate and loan signings we request the bilingual Escrow Agent to be available via telephone during the signing in case the signers have questions about the documents' meaning and purpose that go beyond the notary's scope of duties.
