FAQs regarding: Best Practices and Oregon State Requirements:

Approximately, what does it cost to get mobile notary service within the Springfield/Eugene metro areas?

  • For in-person mobile notary service in the close-in Springfield/Eugene area, you can expect to pay a one-time Travel/Admin/Overhead Fee between  $55 and $75, plus $10 per notarial act; e.g., giving an Oath or Witnessing a signature. For ONLINE notary service, the fee is $25 per notarial act. This limit covers the online notarial act itself, though technology providers or platforms may charge separate fees for hosting and using their systems.

  • For Real Estate and Loan Signing appointments you can expect to pay approximately $150 to $200 per assignment that would include printing two copies of the signing package, frequent feedback to the escrow officer or signing service about the status of the various phases of the assignment, scanbacks from the signing table (if WiFi is available), and return of the signed package to the title company or to UPS/FedEx for overnight delivery (shipping label paid by other).

  • Each notary signing appointment is different, so please see our Prices page for more details and know that we will always first confirm pricing with you prior to accepting the assignment.

Can I pay with my Visa or Debit card?

  • Yes, for online notarizations. But, no for in-person mobile notary service. Sorry, we are not set up to handle credit or debit cards in person. However, we accept cash, checks, Venmo, or Zelle. We accept other payments via signing platforms, depending on the platform (such as BancServ, JOT, SnapDocs, or SigningOrder).

How should I prepare before the notary arrives?

  • Make sure each signer has their government-issued ID with photo. The signature and type of identifying information with expiration date from each signer will be recorded into the notary's journal. Each signer is required to appear in person before the notary to be identified and for the notary to assess whether or not the signer is clear about the meaning of what they are signing and its implication and to make sure that the signer is signing of her/his own free will and is not under pressure or duress.

Does Oregon recognize a Matricular Consular ID?

  • No. Oregon does not accept a Matricular ID as valid for identification by the notary.

What can I do to prepare a space for our signing?

  • We will need some chairs for the notary and each signer. Also we will need adequate table space to be able to review and sign the documents and complete the required notary journal entries. Please let the notary know if you need us to bring a folding table and/or folding chairs for the appointment. Also, we will need adequate lighting to be able to see all the documents clearly. We LOVE cats and dogs and they are welcome to the signing table.

The documents have a lot of pages and some small print too. Will the notary help me to understand these documents prior to the notarization?

  • "We are not attorneys licensed to practice law. We are not allowed to draft legal records, give advice on legal matters, including immigration, or charge a fee for those activities." ORS 194.350(4)(b)(A).

  • The notary is not a lawyer and is not allowed to give any legal advice. If you have your documents, the signers should review them completely prior to the notary's arrival. If you have questions about your documents and whether you will get the legal outcome that you are hoping for, then you should first contact and consult with an attorney allowed to practice law in the state of Oregon.

Can I use my own pen for the signing? What if I cannot find a pen?

  • You may use your own blue or black pen (some entities requires a specific pen color, usually black or blue) or the notaries always have available extra blue and black pens.

What should I expect from my notary?

  • Punctual arrival. The notary will call if delayed unexpectedly.

  • Kind, patient, cheery demeanor, and respectful of your privacy and non-public information.

  • The notary will speak separately with each signer to ascertain they are lucid, and have clarity of mind, and that they understand the documents, and that they are signing of their own free will without duress.

Will the notary have extra notarial certificates with them and help me to pick out which one I need?

  • The notary always carries a wide variety of extra notarial certificates. However, we are not allow to give any advice, including the selection of which notarial certificate you might need.
